Ever felt like your gums are not how they used to be and is even a little pulled back then you might be experiencing the condition of receding gums. This is a condition in the periodontal, most commonly called as gums. This can be the result of poor oral health and if not treated properly through periodontal treatment can lead to tooth loss.
Causes And Symptoms Of Receding Gums
A periodontal disease is an advanced form of a condition called gingivitis. This first comes in the form of buildups of bacteria and plaque along the gum line including the teeth. After some time, this buildup will cause damages to the teeth and this will cause them to pull back from the teeth.
Some of the causes of this condition involves aggressive brushing, smoking, hormonal changes in women, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and a family history of gum disease. In some cases, loss of saliva can be brought by dry mouth that can be caused by taking certain medications.
